Some men earn their legends. Others contribute to the legends of others. Some, like the Marshall known as "Wild" Bill Hickok, simply make up their legends and tell them to anyone who takes the time to listen. Hickok is a charmer; an extraordinary raconteur and a man skilled in what the famous showman P T Barnum would call "the noble art of telling lies". He is well aware of the magic a good story can work on others, having spent considerable time with a traveling show in his younger years. His marksmanship was as sharp as it is now and many visitors leave the show content vowing that they truly saw the greatest gunslinger in the world that night.

For all his dramatic leanings and over-the-top, often grossly exaggerated stories, Hickok is a cunning and shrewd soul. Like many of his fellows, he fell into the role of lawman without meaning to. When he first came west, he did so with the intention of putting on a traveling show, perhaps bringing entertainment to what he perceived to be poverty-stricken frontier settlers. Instead of the struggling little slums he imagined, he found settlements thriving, full of prospects, loaded with opportunity, and marred by those operating outside the law. Along with his friend and fellow former showman, Bill Cody, he excelled in scouting and reconnaissance. As a young Ranger, he discovered a love for this unexpected new career, and when Cody returned east, Hickok stayed, eager to hone his skills as one of the newly appointed Rangers. He grew strong and powerful, mastering the use of the rifle and its pistols.

As the years passed, Hickok took others under his wing, training them in the arts of tracking and wilderness survival. One young woman in particular - Grace Myrtle - has grown to match him in abilities and is in possession of a personality as big as his. They've become confidants, even good friends, and Bill values ​​her opinion more than he's ever openly admitted.

The stories of his own greatness that he told in his youth have long been forgotten, replaced with true stories…mostly. Alongside Myrtle, Hickok continues to excite her allies and foes alike by delivering justice to those who need it most. Often Bill crosses his path the mercenary Copelie sisters, with the irreproachable Nate Berenger and the drunk but reliable Calamity Jane and together they form Bill's legendary Ranger Showboat. Even when he has a job to do, Hickok still loves to go overboard, and as long as he has a glass of whisky, a comfortable chair, and a willing audience, he'll continue to be a showman and entertain crowds with wild tales of Wild Bill.
